I have been a fan of Bodum for many years. I like these glasses because they don't sweat and are light. They are sturdy enough for everyday use and keep ice longer and drinks colder. Great designs. The only drawback is that the capacity is not listed in the information before ordering.Bodum Canteen Double-Wall Double Old-Fashioned/Tumbler Glasses, Set of 2
I know there is no one around but I like the style of these glasses so I look good having my morning coffee as well. These glasses are everything that they were promised to be. I drink espresso every morning and the size of this glass is perfect for my purposes. Form and function. Both are present in this product.
Our friends think it's just a tad small for cocktails. The tumbler is lightweight and just the right size for my mother (75 yrs old). Once we put water in it is still light enough for her to hold. We love them. No sweating and sturdy enough for the dishwasher.
The glasses execute on the idea of a glass with an insulatory layer of air. They never become too hot to hold like a ceramic mug would. I also don't throw them into the sink with all the other dishes (and glasses), and that seems entirely sufficient to keep them intact indefinitely. This is all true in my experience. The illusion of a drink floating within a glass is much more complete with that set of shapes. They're not all PERFECTLY identical, as they're hand blown, but you wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it, and I particularly enjoy this. According to the instructions, they're not especially delicate and can be washed in the dishwasher. I love microwaving them with hot drinks because they're still cool to the touch, afterward.Bodum also recommends adding fluid before adding any ice, but I've been adding the ice gently to these and then pouring drinks over the ice (they're the perfect size for mixed drinks).
The glasses don't sweat with cold drinks although they do become cool. I can imagine some conditions under which they would, but not under normal indoor temperatures and humidities. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars (and this is absolutely a personal thing) is that I really prefer the "Pavina" shape over the "Canteen" shape. No other complaints yet.
I also do not have a dishwasher, so I wonder if the heat from the dishwasher could have something to do with it. I bought two sets and gave them to my friends. I saw these in the Starbuck's store while looking for a gift for some friends I was visiting. I love the glasses they are good insulators, and a nice sleek design. Within days they had broken all but one. I have some that I have not broken, and I did not see how they broke them, but for some people these glasses seem to be a liability.I also have a large coffee mug, so far so good. but be careful.the breakage problem has been mentioned over and over, so it might be good for Bodum to manufacture them a little better or thicker. Some people have mentioned that newer products they have bought seem to be stronger.
